Herbicides
A weed is a plant deemed unwanted or troublesome, particularly when it grows where it’s not desired. The process of managing weeds using chemicals that either kill them or inhibit their growth is referred to as herbicide or weedicide application. Unlike other pesticides, herbicides are designed to target and control various types of plant growth rather than protecting them.
Fungicides
Various organisms such as fungi, bacteria, and viruses can cause mold, rot, and potential disease in plants. Chemical compounds or biological agents employed to eliminate or inhibit fungi or fungal spores are known as fungicides. Fungicides play a crucial role in mitigating fungal growth before it escalates into a significant issue. They can function as either protective measures or eradication agents.
Pesticides / Insecticides
Insecticides are chemical substances utilized to eradicate various bugs and worms found in farm crops, gardens, or households. Likewise, chemicals employed to manage mites (Acarina) are termed Acaricides or Miticides, while those used for rodent control are known as Rodenticides. Insecticides are credited as a significant contributor to the surge in agricultural productivity during the 20th century.
Fertilizer
Fertilizer is a substance utilized to enhance soil fertility. It’s applied to soil or plant tissues to provide essential nutrients crucial for plant growth. Fertilizers can be categorized into two types: Chemical fertilizers, made from chemically processed compounds, and Bio-fertilizers, containing living organisms that enhance nutrient availability within the plant.
Growth Promoter
For optimal plant growth and production, it’s crucial that plants have access to all necessary major nutrients and micronutrients in the correct quantities. The availability of these nutrients depends on factors such as soil type and both biotic and abiotic stresses. Plant growth regulators play a vital role in supplying various enzymes to the plant, aiding in growth and yield enhancement.
